University Counsellor 

The University of Manitoba Student Counselling Centre invites applications for two full-time probationary appointments at the rank of Instructor I. These positions are expected to begin July 1, 2017 depending on availability of successful candidate.

The successful candidate will provide counselling services for university students experiencing personal, social, educational, and career concerns. They will also be involved in a combination of other activities, including program development, outreach, crisis intervention, supervision of counselling students in training, consultation to faculty, staff, and students, and university and community service. The successful candidate will work at both the Fort Garry and Bannatyne Campus locations of the Student Counselling Centre.

A doctoral degree in Counselling or Clinical Psychology is preferred, although candidates with a Master’s degree in a Counselling Profession (e.g., Social Work, Counselling, etc.) will also be considered. The preferred candidates must have a minimum of two years of supervised counselling experience with adults. Counselling experience with students attending a postsecondary institution is preferred. Assets include experience with cases involving acute and complex trauma, experience in crisis response, psychological assessment, familiarity with diversity (e.g., Indigenous persons, persons with disabilities, international populations), knowledge of professional health sciences training programs, and experience providing community outreach. A commitment to the promotion of a positive campus community, including the ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary service delivery environment, with a richly diverse population of students, staff, faculty, volunteers, and administrators is important.

CLINICAL PSYCHOLOGIST – Wellness Institute General Clinical Practice and Work Injury Management/Rehabilitation

Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks General Hospital

The Wellness Institute at Seven Oaks General Hospital invites applications for a part-time, contract, female, psychologist to work with the multi-disciplinary Work Injury Management rehabilitation team and to provide individual psychological services on a fee-for-service basis. A growing portion of this work focuses on individuals (self-referring) who are requiring the services of a more broadly focused psychology practice, including individuals with general anxiety and depression, relationship and family issues, PTSD, and stress/mental health management.  The successful applicant will provide assessment and treatment of psychological issues related to a broad range of psychological issues and conditions, chronic injury, chronic pain, prolonged disability and underemployment, supporting individual psychological health and wellness, active recovery and rehabilitation, with return to work and restoration of function as the primary focus particularly when working with rehabilitation clients.  The work with rehabilitation clients will be done in consultation with other experienced rehabilitation professionals within the Rehabilitation and Sports Injury Clinic, as well as in close working relationship with the third party payers, and other professionals within the community

Position Responsibilities:

  • Psychological assessment, evaluation and treatment of psychological issues related to chronic injury, chronic pain, prolonged disability and underemployment
  • Provide psychological services to individuals on a fee-for-service basis
  • Supportive psychological intervention focusing on health and wellness, active recovery, return to work and restoration of function
  • Effective and timely report generation
  • Psychological consultation to other health professionals
  • Psychological consultation and collaboration with the multi-disciplinary Work Injury Management Team
  • Close communication and working relationship with third party payers
  • Support and develop an active network of referral sources

  Qualifications:

  • Doctoral degree (PhD or PsyD) in Clinical Psychology from a CPA accredited training program
  • Completion of a CPA accredited Internship / Residency. 
  • Eligibility for registration as a Clinical Psychologist by the Psychological Association of Manitoba 
  • Specialized education, training and experience with administration and interpretation of evidence-based psychological tests and measures related to pain, injury and disability.
  • Specialized education, training and experience with evidence-based psychological interventions for chronic pain and injury
  • Clinical experience in the areas of disability and rehabilitation would be an asset.
  • Satisfactory results of pre-employment criminal records, vulnerable persons and child abuse registry checks
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication (written and verbal), and inter-professional teamwork skills

Salary and Benefits:

  • Compensation will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
  • This is a part-time contract position based on a fee-for-service practice.
  • Gym access at the Wellness Institute is included.
