As part of a multi-year expansion to our CPA-accredited clinical program, the Department of Psychology, Faculty of Arts at the University of Manitoba invites applications for a probationary position at the rank of Instructor I in Clinical Psychology. The appointment has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin on October 18, 2024 and will continue until the position is filled. Responsibilities
Responsibilities will include teaching (80%) and service (20%) to the Department, Faculty, and University, with primary teaching activities at the graduate level including required coursework in intellectual and professional skill-domains, and supervision of practica, in the clinical psychology (M.A./Ph.D.) program. The successful candidate will work closely with staff at our Psychological Service Centre (see link below) and may have the opportunity to develop an onsite private practice there. Ability to teach introductory undergraduate courses in clinical psychology is highly valued as well. Opportunities for this position to be active in student research supervision exist within the Department’s honours undergraduate programs, if desired, as well as to seek internal funding for teaching and learning enhancements and innovations. The normal teaching load is 21 credit hours or 7 courses per year. Clinical Psychology Instructors will normally be assigned 1.5 credit hours of teaching credit per practicum supervised.

Qualifications
Candidates should have completed a PhD or equivalent doctoral degree by the time of appointment from a CPA- or APA- accredited psychology program with an approved internship. The successful candidate will be expected to obtain registration as a Clinical Psychologist in Manitoba. Applicants are expected to have demonstrated excellence in teaching and clinical supervision. Evidence of clinical practice, research and/or teaching with diverse populations is an asset.

The appointment has an anticipated start date of July 1, 2025. Review of applications will begin on October 18, 2024 and will continue until the positions are filled. Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to develop a productive and internationally recognized research program, obtain external funding, teach primarily graduate-level and some undergraduate-level courses, supervise graduate and undergraduate research, supervise clinical practice, and contribute to service. Alternative delivery modes of teaching (e.g. online instruction) may be available. The standard weighting of responsibilities for full-time equivalent faculty members in the Faculty of Arts is 40% research, 40% teaching, and 20% service. The normal teaching load is 12 credit hours or 4 courses per year (with teaching release for new faculty in the first 2 years, and for faculty who are principal investigators on Tri-Agency grants). Practicum supervision is credited at 1.5 credit hours per supervised student.

The successful candidate will be expected to obtain registration as a Clinical Psychologist in Manitoba. Successful candidates close to completion of their doctoral degree may be appointed to a term position at the rank of Lecturer until successful completion of their degree, at which time they will begin their probationary appointment as an Assistant Professor.
