The Effectiveness of Inpatient Treatment for Substance Use Disorder

With Dr. Christina Basedow, PhD, RCC, CSAT, CMAT

Vice President Western Canada and Executive Director, Edgewood Treatment Centre

There is a notable absence of studies demonstrating the effectiveness of inpatient treatment programs for addiction. Additionally, there is a lack of mental health considerations despite high rates of comorbidity in addicted populations. In 2012, it was reported that rates of substance use disorder were nearly twice the rate of mood disorders in Canada, with substance use affecting approximately 21% of the Canadian population at some point in their lifetime (Pearson et al. 2013). Join Dr. Christina Basedow as she guides us through her study of 708 patients at a private inpatient facility for addiction and mental health in British Columbia and ultimately discusses the Effectiveness of Inpatient Treatment for Substance Use Disorder.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:

  • Determine the effectiveness of treatment for substance use disorders
  • Explore current research indicators
  • Discuss the use of psychometrics to inform treatment options
  • Analyze results – symptom reduction, gender specific, etc.

Date: March 24, 2022 – 12pm ET, 9am PT

Duration: 1-hour (45-minute presentation followed by a 15-minute Q&A)

Cost: COMPLIMENTARY

This webinar provides 1.0 CEU credits recognized by the CACCF, CCPA, MDPAC, and CVRP.
