Child/Youth Therapist
Job Description
Job Responsibilities
- Provides individual, group and/or family therapy
- Participates in multidisciplinary treatment planning
- Develops comprehensive psycho-social assessments and progress reports
- Participates in the clinical supervision and peer case consultation sessions
- Documents chart notes in the medical files according to requirements of PHIA
- Responsible for maintenance of client files
Desired Work Experience
- Minimum 3-5 years of direct clinical experience providing service for children and youth, groups and families (private and/or not-for-profit)
- Providing therapeutic services for children and youth in foster care and supporting families who have come together through adoption
- Additional experience supporting children and youth who are experiencing a breakdown in their family through separation/divorce
- Superior progress report writing skills
- Proficient in deriving clinical formulations
Desired Education/Skills
- Master’s Level degree, or equivalent education/experience, in Psychology/Counselling, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Play Therapy or other Children and Youth fields
- A good understanding of children who have experienced trauma, loss, grief and bullying
- Training in, and understanding of complex trauma, attachment, defense mechanisms, and nurturing resiliency
- Parent/child mediation and conflict resolution
- Strong understanding of suicide interventions
- Eligible for registration with regulatory body

- Experience delivering workshops
