Psychologist – Youth Forensic Services

Permanent Full-Time

As a site of the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority’s (WRHA) Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services, in Winnipeg Manitoba, MATC provides a range of mental health services to children and youth who experience mental health and/or emotional disorders, and their families. A full continuum of programs and services, both community and hospital based, are available to children, adolescents and their families.

Position Overview

Manitoba Adolescent Treatment Centre (MATC) is a Winnipeg Regional Health Authority (WRHA) site for Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services. MATC provides a full continuum of mental health services to children and youth with mental health and/or emotional disorders, and their families. See www.matc.ca for more information about services. Youth Forensic Services provides clinical services including assessment and treatment to youth involved in the criminal justice system, both for those in custody and within the community.

Reports to the Director of Psychology. Responsibilities include a significant focus on services to youth involved in the criminal justice system, including court-ordered assessment related to psycho- diagnostic issues, bail, probation and sentencing decisions, as well as treatment services. Clients are those both in a custodial setting as well as in the community. Additional areas of responsibility include psychological assessment and treatment to children and youth regarding a range of mental health/emotional/behavioral issues; consultation with internal and external systems; working within multi-disciplinary teams; consultation/supervision to students/staff as appropriate.

MATC Psychologists receive Medical Staff Privileges through the WRHA’s Clinical Health Psychology Program.
